Proposal for an Arabic Library/Arab Cultural Institute in Denmark

Several of the members of the group that has been working with the cultural exchange agreements have also been working on the formation of an Arabic Library or an Arab Cultural Institute in Denmark. The establishment of such an organ will certainly make a contribution to a better balanced and more subtly shaded picture of the Arab world in Scandinavia. This project is, in fact, not part of the cultural exchange agreement (DACE), but sprouted out from the early considerations about a cultural exchange program in the spring of 2001.

At the occasion of the opening of the exhibition SEVEN FROM AFAR at Sharjah Art Museum, April 2004, HH Sheik Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi expressed, that "Establishing an Arab Cultural Institute in Denmark will help transmit the right image to the region".

During 2004-05 the program of An Arabic Cultural Institute was developed at the Aarhus School of Architecture.
